Over the break, I tried a trial trip for my travel book idea and it exploded in spectacular fashion! I did not take into consideration the social aspect of these trips and the time it would take to catch up with people I haven't seen since before the pandemic in some cases.
More time was spent catching up vs shooting images.
I also ran into an issue of having film developed while on break, as I decided I wanted to use color film and convert them to B&W if needed. Processing cost a bit and it takes control of the process away that I'm not comfortable with. So I spent a lot of time researching how I can process at home, to save money, speed up and control the process. So I made a rather large investment so I have the freedom to develop at home and over the summer while images and stories are still fresh.
I did get to meet with one of the new artist and had my illustration done, while on this first adventure. So it wasn't a complete loss. We also spoke about my next trip and what we will do and possibly shooting other work in the studio while I'm there.
Did a little work on new smaller and filler pieces for the next few trips that are in the works.
Part of the purpose for the travel book is to document what may be my last season of competing and doing these long weekend trips. That being said, I have finished my negotiation and contract signing with sponsors for this season. I have started to come up with my race calendar and training program that will be documented in the travel book.
Oh and I worked on some more layout ideas, but had to take a break from screens and put them off to the side.
