Update 1/30/23

My first blog post!

This week I spent some time seeking out educational resources on Christianity and Catholicism, mainly video-based, as well as resources pertaining specifically to art history and religious imagery within Renaissance art since that is primarily where I'm drawing inspiration from.

In the coming days, I intend to spend time watching these and taking notes. I'm doing this in order to give myself a better understanding of the background I'm working from. Though it does not directly pertain to my subject matter, it is important for me to have a clear insight into the history and principles I'm adjacently exploring. Ultimately I want to represent that despite the fact that historically people have used religion to justify their bigotry, queerness exists within everything and can be found in depictions of religious events and principles.

This weekend was super busy for me so I don't have as much done as I would have liked but I have a plan and a starting point. I did a few super basic sketches just trying to orient myself to the composition of the Creation of Adam piece.
